The fiber cleaver is used to cut the fiber as thin as a hair.
After the cut fiber is magnified hundreds of times, the observation is still
flat before it can be spliced by discharge. The material of the optical fiber
is generally quartz, so the material of the blade of the optical fiber cleaver
is required. The fiber cleaver is suitable for single-core or multi-core bare
quartz fiber; suitable for 100-250um diameter fiber cladding.

BC-6S:
The BAUDCOM High Precision Fiber Cleaver BC-6S is designed
for field use, especially for FTTH. By using a rotating blade for multiple
scoring positions enables a blade life of 36, 000 cleaves with a cleave angle
better than 0.5 degrees. The unit is constructed to be robust and field
serviceable and has options such as tripod mount to enable secure platform
mounting. The BC-6S is integral to the unit is a cleave length scale which
helps facilitate exact lengths during cleaving.
Operation method
Use a fiber stripper to remove the coating on the surface
layer, reserve about 30-40mm, wrap the fiber with a dust-free paper dipped in
alcohol, and then wipe the fiber clean.
Put it into the fiber-carrying slot and cut the fiber.
Note that the fiber section after cutting should be very
careful not to touch any objects, otherwise it will affect the cutting effect.
If there is continuous fiber cutting, adjust the blade
height.
If the cut end surface is not flat, clean the rubber pad of
the cutting knife first, and then replace the knife surface if the problem is
not solved.
Blade material characteristics
1. Using ultra-fine grained WC-Co powder for low-pressure
sintering, which has the characteristics of high hardness, high strength, good
wear resistance and sharp cutting edge.
2. The low-pressure sintering product has good internal
metallographic structure and compactness, which effectively reduces the
microscopic pores in the alloy, avoids the phenomenon of chipping of the
cutting edge during fine grinding and use, and improves the smoothness of the
cut section.
3. The sharpening of the cutting edge of the optical fiber
cutting knife is extremely demanding. Generally, a precision optical grinder
with a high degree of automation is required to sharpen the cutting edge, so
that the sharpened edge will be sharp without the advantage of edge chipping.
The cutting edge requires high processing accuracy, and the finish is as high
as the mirror effect (Ra≥0.012), and the section of the cut fiber is flat, smooth, and
free of burrs.

Instructions for use
In order to ensure the best effect of fiber cutting section, please put
the blade in an ultrasonic cleaner and clean it once after using the blade for
a period of time or when changing the position of the cutting edge to ensure
the cleanliness of the blade surface and the mirror effect of the cutting
section.
